Acceptable Use Policy for Dorsal Hub LTD

Effective Date: 2025-12-10
Last Updated: 2025-12-10

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") outlines the rules and standards for using the DorsalHub Service. It is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to comply with this AUP.

1. Prohibited Actions

You may not use the DorsalHub Service to engage in, promote, or support any of an illegal, harmful, or fraudulent nature. The following activities are strictly prohibited:

  • Illegal and Harmful Content: You may not index, store, or tag metadata that is derived from or associated with any content that is illegal, defamatory, libelous, harassing, abusive, fraudulent, or invasive of another's privacy.
  • Infringing Content: You may not use the Service in connection with any content that infringes upon the intellectual property rights of others, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, or trade secrets.
  • Security Violations: You are prohibited from attempting to compromise the security or integrity of the Service. This includes:
    • Accessing or attempting to access any data, systems, or accounts that you do not have explicit authorization for, including the private records of other users.
    • Probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of the Service or any associated system or network.
    • Knowingly submitting malicious or malformed data (e.g., via the API or website) with the intent to disrupt, overload, or disable the Service.
  • Service Misuse and Abuse:
    • Metadata Vandalism: Repeatedly changing public metadata (such as filenames or descriptions) in a way that degrades the accuracy or utility of the Global Index ("edit warring").
    • Using automated tools (e.g., scrapers) to excessively harvest data from the website in a manner that degrades the experience for other users. Legitimate use of the API within documented rate limits is permitted.
    • Reselling, leasing, or sub-licensing access to the DorsalHub API or any part of the Service without a specific written commercial agreement with Dorsal Hub LTD.
    • Using the Service's data, API, or proprietary features to create a product or service that directly and substantially replicates the core offering of DorsalHub.
    • Sending unsolicited communications, promotions, or spam to other users of the Service.

2. Enforcement

Dorsal Hub LTD reserves the right to investigate any violation of this AUP. We may, at our sole discretion, suspend or terminate your access to the Service without notice for any violation of this policy. We may also report any activity that we believe violates any law or regulation to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.

Freezing Records: To maintain the integrity of the Global Index, DorsalHub reserves the right to "freeze" any Public file record. This prevents further modifications to specific fields (such as filename or media type) if we detect abuse, metadata vandalism, or if a record exceeds system limits (e.g., excessive name variations).

3. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any violation of this AUP, please report it immediately to contact@dorsalhub.com.
