    "abstract": "(transcript of a talk given by Prof.~Feshbach:) Nuclear physics has been and\nwill be a major factor in science and technology. It makes unique and important\ncontributions to medicine, to industry and to other sciences. Interaction with\nother physics has been strong. Astrophysics and mesoscopic physics are notable\nexamples. But what I shall talk about today are labeled {\\bf``universals\"}.\nThis refers to results which transcend the limits of a given subject providing\nfundamental principles which inform not only nuclear physics but all of\nscience. It is the universals which take nuclear physics research from the\nparochial albeit fascinating studies of nuclear reactions and structure to the\ndevelopment and formulation of concepts of significance for all of the physical\nsciences.",
