    "abstract": "We propose a method to achieve scalable quantum computation based on fast\nquantum gates on an array of trapped ions, without the requirement of ion\nshuttling. Conditional quantum gates are obtained for any neighboring ions\nthrough spin-dependent acceleration of the ions from periodic photon kicks. The\ngates are shown to be robust to influence of all the other ions in the array\nand insensitive to the ions\u0027 temperature.",
