    "abstract": "Quantum networks are composed of nodes which can send and receive quantum\nstates by exchanging photons. Their goal is to facilitate quantum communication\nbetween any nodes, something which can be used to send secret messages in a\nsecure way, and to communicate more efficiently than in classical networks.\nThese goals can be achieved, for instance, via teleportation. Here we show that\nthe design of efficient quantum communication protocols in quantum networks\ninvolves intriguing quantum phenomena, depending both on the way the nodes are\ndisplayed, and the entanglement between them. These phenomena can be employed\nto design protocols which overcome the exponential decrease of signals with the\nnumber of nodes. We relate the problem of establishing maximally entangled\nstates between nodes to classical percolation in statistical mechanics, and\ndemonstrate that quantum phase transitions can be used to optimize the\noperation of quantum networks.",
