Abstract
A new suggestion for pattern formation in biological systems is proposed. The interaction of two signaling pathways provides complex patterning. The interaction of two pathways involves few of the biochemical complexities of the pathways. The 'Wnt' pathway is proposed to be one of these, in interaction with others, one at a time, perhaps sequentially, such as Hunchback (Hh), Notch, BMP, etc., those involved in development of metazoa. It is further shown how such interactions can easily lead to such epithelial movements as gastrulation. Numerical simulations of the model are given.
