    "abstract": "We present an alternative method for calculating amplitudes for correlated pi\npi exchange in the ``sigma\u0027\u0027 and rho channel in piN scattering. Starting from a\nfixed mass meson exchange potential, we introduce the width of the exchanged\nparticles by integrating over a mass spectral function. The spectral functions\nare constructed from the pseudoempirical N\\bar{N} -\u003e pi pi data. Using this\napproach we develop a prescription for resolving ambiguities of the correlated\npi pi exchange in the rho channel that occur when different dispersion\ntheoretical formulations of rho exchange are used to construct piN potentials.",
