    "abstract": "We argue that the starting point of Kaluza\u0027s idea of unifying electrodynamics\nand gravity was the analogy between gravitation and electromagnetism which was\npointed out by Einstein and Thirring. It seems that Kaluza\u0027s attention was\nturned to this point by the three papers on the Lense-Thirring effect and the\nanalogy between gravitation and electromagnetism which were published a short\ntime before Kaluza\u0027s paper was submitted. We provide here an English\ntranslation of the third of these papers.",
