The Inves tment Manager has defined an ESG s tandard that issuer s need to meet: a) Corporat e issuers meet the good governance principles, in line with the Inves tment Manager ’s Good Governance Policy . Good governance practices of inves tee companies are assessed throu gh a two tiered appr oach. Firs t, companies are screened for material violations of the UN Global Compact (“UNGC”), in accordance with Aviva Inves tor s Baseline Exclusions Policy . Second, a qualitative assessment is conducte d by the Inves tment Manager, r, which, at a minimum, consider s matt ers it deems relevant to the four identified pillars of good governance: sound management s tructures, employee relations, st aff remuneration, and tax compliance.
In assessing good governance, the Inves tment Manager applies its propriet ary Good Governance assessment, in accordance with its Good Governance Policy . Sovereign issuers are evaluat ed through a combination of data-driven scoring and qualitative review to ensure they do not present persis tent and unmitigat ed inves tment and susta inability risks. The Sovereign ESG assessment framework identifies countries that meet this minimum ESG s tandard based on their performance across key governance, social and environ mental dimensions.
For sovereign issuers with elevat ed sust ainability risks, an enhanced qualitative ESG assessment forms part of the Inves tment Manager ’s research proces s; as defined in the Sovereign ESG assessment framework described in the website disclosures referred to under section “Where can I find more prod uct specific information online? ”. This assessment combines issuer -specific knowledge with relevant quantitative metrics, considering factor s such as political stability, y, ins titutional transparency and rule of law . Inves tment in sovereign issuers does not const itute a primary focus of the inves tment st rategy of this sub-fund. As such, it does not anticipat e significant exposure to sovereign issuer s that do not meet the minimum ESG standard. Such exposure, if any, y, is expect ed to be minimal and subject to a limit on aggregate exposure as referred to under section “What inves tments are included under "#2 Other", what is their purpose and are there any minimum environ mental or social safeguards? ”

Issuer s that meet the criteri a of the Invest ment Manager ’s Exclusion Policy described above are excluded. The percentage of investm ents that are excluded fr om the Sub-Fund’s inves tment univer se will vary over time and be minimal given the nature of the inves tment universe and the appr oved issuer proc ess incorporating a st r ong ESG assessment.

How does the use of derivatives attain the envi vironmental or social characteristic ics promoted by the financial product? Derivatives are assessed on a “look thr ough” basis where possible, in order to avoid indirect exposure to issuer s excluded by the Inves tment Manager ’s Baseline Exclusions Policy (BEP).
Derivative exposure via well-diver sified * indices or used in the conte xt of hedging or efficient portfolio management will not contribute towards attai ning the envir onmental or social charact eristics prom oted by the Sub-Fund.
Where derivatives are used for inves tment purposes, “look thr ough” to underlying securities will apply to non-diver sified indices to confirm alignment with the sus tainability charact eristic s of the Sub-Fund. However, r, exposure to issuers excluded by the BEP via non-diver sified indices may be allowed pr ovided that: (i) the aggregat e exposure of that financial index to excluded companies is less than or equal to 20%; and (ii) the Sub-Fund’s total exposure to excluded companies via such non-divers ified financial index does not exceed 2.5% of the Sub-Fund’s net asset value. In such instance s, such exposure will not count towards at taining the envir onmental or social charact eristics pr omoted by the Sub-Fund.
To what minimum ext ent are sus tainable inves tments with an enviro nmental objective aligned with the EU Tax onomy?
The Sub Fund does not commit to making inves tments that are inten tionally aligned with the EU Tax onomy . Accordingly, y, the Sub Fund’s actively targeted EU Tax onomy alignment is 0%.
The Sub Fund may, y, however, r, hold investments that are assessed by third party data pr oviders as being EU Tax onomy aligned. Any such alignment is incidental and does not reflect a binding inves tment objective or an int entional alignment with the EU Tax onomy . Periodic reporting may therefore show a level of EU Tax onomy alignment based on third party assessments.
